This was a question asked by a member of the free remote job course. Below is my answer!
You can make as much money working remotely for a company as you can working for a company that requires workers to be in the office.
Right now I’m making more money as a remote worker than I ever did as an office worker. That said, the amount of money you can make as a remote worker depends on your experience level and ability to negotiate for a wage you think you deserve. This is the case for non-remote work, too.
As a rule of thumb, try to avoid companies that want to pay you below the market rate for your profession and experience level. To find your market rate in your country, simply do a Google search for “market rate salary for [your job title]”.
Finally, if you’re applying to a remote company based in the US, don’t expect to receive the same salary as a US citizen. Almost every remote company will take your location and cost of living into account, including even the best remote companies like Buffer.
